Helensfield

Helensfield, previously called Fauld, is a small hamlet on the A907 north of Clackmannan located to the east of the SAK railway at Kincardine Junction and to the south of the former Zetland Colliery site.

It is separated from Clackmannan by the railway and by the downgrading of the road bridge over the Black Devon at the former Clackmannan woollen mill site (now called Cherryton Drive), possibly in the late 1980's or early 1990's, to pedestrian use only.

Helensfield currently consists of a small number of mainly single storey houses and cottages.

The council's expansion plans for Clackmannan have earmarked the land around Helensfield as being one possible area which could host more housing. This could lead to Helensfield eventually becoming an area of the village of Clackmannan.

The path south through the hamlet was part of the route of the Clackmannan waggonway.

Fauld is mentioned in the Clackmannanshire name books of 1861-62:

Fauld - A row and a cluster of dwellinghouses, a smithy and a foundry. The houses are all one storey high, tiled and in good repair. The foundry is a small one, the only casting being tram rails. Property of the Earl of Zetland.
