Marchglen

Marchglen East Marchglen West

Marchglen is a small hamlet of homes just south of Tillicoultry on the continuation of Tillicoultry's Lower Mill Street, which continues on uphill to Benview. It boasts a single row of houses, of pre- 20th century construction. All of these have been modified over the years, to include such luxury items as indoor bathrooms.

The burn which runs off the Ochils and down through the glen into west of Tillicoultry village provided an attractive source of water for the early textile industry, being used for the washing and dying of wool. The burn separates Marchglen from Tillicoultry and the road and fields adjacent often flood after heavy rain, particularly around the bridge.

Marchglen is separated from Devonside to the south by the disused Devon Valley Railway, which is now a pedestrian path and cycleway.
